Maramagambo Community Medical Center (MCMC) provides robust Surgical Care services, designed to meet the diverse and often urgent needs of the Kanungu community. While a standard functional operating theatre is currently among our wish list, we have a dedicated team of medical professionals ready to handle life-saving emergency surgical care. We believe that high-quality surgical care should not be a luxury reserved for those in urban centers, but a fundamental right for everyone.

The surgical department at MCMC is a critical component of our life-saving mission. Though a standard functional operating theatre is currently on our wish list, our goal is to maintain surgical spaces to the highest standards of sterility and equip them with modern surgical instruments and anesthesia machines. In the future, we hope to perform a variety of procedures on-site, including emergency Cesarean sections, hernia repairs, appendectomies, and the management of acute trauma. Establishing these full services locally will be a game-changer for our community, eliminating the need for patients to endure long, painful, and often dangerous journeys to distant hospitals for urgent surgical care.

Furthermore, we are actively involved in surgical outreach programs. We recognize that even with our local facility, some members of our community may still face barriers to accessing surgical care. We partner with international organizations to host surgical camps, where we provide free or highly subsidized surgeries for conditions like cataracts, fistulas, and congenital deformities. These camps not only provide life-changing interventions for hundreds of patients but also help to raise awareness about the availability of surgical services in our region.
